Hermes released Caleche way back in 1961 and was one of the first fragrances to be released by the Hermes design house which was established by Thierry Hermes in 1837. Caleche was created by perfumier Guy Robert, who created 3 separate Hermes fragrances. Most people don't think perfumes when they hear Hermes, they're definitely more famous for their handbags, ties, belts, etc, but if, like me, you're not interested in paying tens of thousands of pounds for handbags you may not have paid any attention to them as a designer brand.Considering it's been around for so long it was strange that I'd never heard of it until recently. Then again, I only heard of it because of my hubby telling me how much he thought it would suit me. He didn't even realise it was such an old, rather, "classic" fragrance until I looked it up and found that it had been around since the early 60s. I guess at that price it's not something you would impulse buy so unless you smelt it on someone else and really liked it, it's not a fragrance that gets much exposure in this day and age with a plethora of celebrity scents out there and other more affordable fragrances that have acquired "classic" status.I don't think Caleche is a fragrance that everyone can carry off. I feel it's probably aimed at the more mature, confident woman. Women in late 20s and above might feel comfortable wearing this very distinctive scent but braver younger women have been known to be happy with it too. I've had some real compliments when I've worn it in recent months (I say recent months because I only discovered this scent a few months ago). My husband absolutely adores it on me and would love it if I wore it every day but I think it's a bit expensive and possibly too "noticeable" a fragrance for every day wear.Caleche reminds me in some ways of Chanel No 5 in that it is quite distinctive but also that it's possibly not suited to the younger woman. My husband sometimes asks me if I'm wearing Chanel No 5 when I'm wearing Caleche which I find very strange as I don't think they are at in the least bit similar scent-wise but I've read elsewhere online that some people think they're practically the same! They may share some ingredients but personally I find them to be two very different scents.I don't think the bottle design was very inspired, it resembles a coach lamp! The EDP comes in a clear frosted bottle with a fairly plain gold lid whilst the EDT is in a clear glass bottle. The perfume itself is yellow in colour. The box is an orangey-yellow colour and again like the bottle I don't think it's very inspired, it really doesn't seem like a lot of thought went into it.If I were to describe how I found the scent of Caleche without discussing the actual ingredients I would say it's a refreshing floral scent, summery and somewhat soapy too. I've got the EDP and EDT version and find it initially gives off a very noticeable flowery and somewhat citrusy scent, when it settles it's still flowery but not overly so, and it has an almost soap-like presence which last for several hours. I've bought the EDT version as a handbag size (50ml) but it has rather limited lasting power (3 hours or so) so I'm happy to stick to the EDP version which on me lasts a good 6 hours or so.Caleche consists of top notes of aldehydes, bergamot, neroli and lemon; middle notes of rose, jasmine, lily of the valley and iris, with base notes of oakmoss, sandalwood, cedarwood and vetiver.You can purchase Caleche EDP in 25, 50 and 100ml with a variety of sizes available in the EDT version. Sometimes the EDP is sold as Soie de Parfum and the EDT is also referred to as Eau Delicate.I'd recommend this scent for evening wear generally. Being one of my more expensive perfumes, it's not something I'd want to wear every day to work and I save it for "special" occasions. I have become rather attached to it and I've found the scent to be quite addictive. You might find it amusing that I try to coordinate wearing Caleche when hubby is wearing his Terre D'Hermes!I'm happy to give Caleche a strong 4 out of 5 stars. You might want to sample a good squirt of this in a department store and see how you feel about it a few hours later before you spend your hard earned cash on this.

I was bought my first bottle of this beautiful fragrance when I was about 16 (I wasn't into cheap fragrances even then). I believe it was actually a bottle of pure perfume as well which sadly appears to no longer be made. Probably because of the price of the fine essential oils used.Although there are quite a few floral notes in this fragrance, once it settles down to the middle and base notes then the oils of Sandalwood, Vetiver, Oakmoss and Musk kick in and change the scent totally. These base notes are what give this fragrance its staying power.Its name Caleche comes from the picture of the Coach on the box. I think the bottle is meant to look like a Coach or Caleche light.This is a very costly scent but I refuse to keep it for special occasions. (Too many of my perfumes have 'gone off' by me doing this). I wear it both during the day and in the evenings. It was my signature scent when I was in my teens and still is today.It is true that the classics are the best.

My wife highly rates this produce, however I still have an outstanding problem with both Amazon and the seller. This amounts to receiving a quantity of 50ml priced at that which, according to other retail outlets, should have been for 100ml. Amazon sellers have informed that the price is correct and therefore no further action will be taken. I hope that Amazon will respon and make the necessary adjustments to enable me to continue using Amazon for future purchases.
