My daughter has been having Keratin treatments on her hair for a while now and I have envied the sleek, shiny swishy curtain of hair but not the amount of money she has to pay to maintain it.So how hard could it be to do at home? I colour my hair and reasoned that it is more risky with the combination of chemicals in the kits and the risk of reactions with what colour we already have on our hair. This says it is safe on all kinds of hair whether coloured or not or even pre-straightened. Yes, I'm probably as gullible as anyone but the research seemed to bear it all out and the big `naughty', formaldehyde, was not one of the contents.Bearing this in mind, I'd tried a couple of kits from that well know auction site but the first time I used some old straightening irons that didn't heat up to a high enough temperature so that didn't last too well. (Make sure you check that out.) The second time I had better results. However I was left with a glut of pre-treatment shampoo.Buying this bottle seemed an extravagance but if you work out the cost of each treatment it is *very* economical. Of the 1000mls I have only used 70mls and I have long hair. At that rate I have about 3 years worth of treatments and that's all for the cost of less than one salon treatment! (My dad taught me well!)If you're still with me...You could do with roping in a friend - or kind husband/wife/lover who feels the need to build up their points score. It is much easier especially with the back sections. All the instructions are on the back of the bottle but you do need to put aside a couple of hours. Check out applications on Youtube if you are nervous.The worse bit it keeping it dry, unbound, unwashed for the three days afterwards. The result is worth it. I am VERY happy. With maturity(er!) my hair had become fluffy and fine and I had developed a halo effect around my head. Nearly a week post treatment it is now sleek and shiny and has withstood three of the wettest days this year so far. (Hosepipe ban???) This morning it was treated to steam... still un-frizzy!Just remember to use salt/sodium laureth sulphate (SLS) free shampoos and conditioners afterwards otherwise it will strip the keratin off prematurely.

For what it cost was an okay buy.Obviously its always going to be harder to do it yourself than someone else doing it for you. I like the fact that can do it when its a good time for me, not having to get out to the hairdressers and worrying about whether its raining when its time to come home. Don't feel it last as long, slightly weaker product, but when you break it down to what it cost per application, its not dear at all, tend to redo it every 10 weeks,but if needed can do it sooner as its not to dear. would probably get this again when run out.

I started by buying the smaller 100ml version, after experiencing positive results I decided to invest in this bigger bottle and I have not been disappointed. It's really does make the hair softer and smoother and lasts for 2/3 months depending on how well you look after your hair, I would recommend this product to anyone who doesn't wish to pay £80+ every time they go to a salon
